Gearst Mining Mining & Materials

About Gearst Mining

Gearst was founded by legendary hard-ass George Gearst, best known for personally killing 78 striking miners with a Gattling gun during the Brown Hills Gold Strike of 1894.

Gearst was made the Wall Street Times' most evil entrepreneur of 1902 and ran his company with an iron fist--an actual iron fist after losing it in a mining accident.

Gearst continues this proud tradition in all of the impoverished countries in which it operates today. A key metric that the company uses to determine exactly how hard its employees are working is how many have died each week as a result of working the four mandatory consecutive 12 hour shifts.

The company was also an early pioneer in the practice of recouping employee costs by charging for use of company housing, food, air and water by employees.
